KCOMMUNITY MEDIA is a community media organization built to empower Kansas Citians to platform their own perspectives and narratives.

Established in 2025, our Founder, Hassan Williams was inspired by their time living in Brooklyn, working as a Community Producer for BRIC TV.

We believe that Kansas Citians also deserve the resources and education that eradicate accessibility barriers to producing our own media.

Meet Our Founder

Hassan Williams (any/all) has been writing and producing television since 2011. Starting out as a student producer for MUTV in Columbia, Missouri, Hassan moved to New York and pursued an MFA in Television Production at Brooklyn College in 2015. In addition to creating viral digital content, they have produced a range of media from feature-length historical documentaries to promos for A+E Networks, Paramount/VH1, and WNET THIRTEEN.

Hassan’s praxis has always been to center the narratives and perspectives of systematically excluded people, creating media by the hypermarginalized for the hypermarganialized to educate, entertain, and build intercommunal solidarity. Hassan also serves on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee for Independent Filmmakers Coalition Kansas City, KC PBS Community Advisory Board, KC Tenants, and KC Screenwriters.
